The Graduate Development Programmes will be delivered over 2 years and are open to all new & recently qualified vets that join VetPartners. They are also open to those returning to work after a period of time away from practice and to graduates from outside the UK who are keen to develop and adapt their skills – to thrive in our practices. Most of our spaces are species specific – though a small number of opportunities are available in Mixed practice and in our Poultry Health teams.
Structure of Programmes
- Blended learning: The programmes use a blended learning approach to deliver content. This is a mix of online meetings, webinars and ‘classroom’ sessions, supported by a knowledge bank hosted on VetPartners learning platform
- Mentoring: We have 2 layers of mentor support for our graduate programmes. Each graduate is assigned a clinical mentor by their practice to help support them in the workplace. In addition to this we have group mentors in place that support graduates through their programme.
Farm Graduate Programme
The Farm Animal Graduate Programme has been designed to build on the knowledge and skills learnt at university and provide recent graduates with the necessary support to allow them to develop as farm animal clinicians.
The diversity of the programme modules reflects modern farm animal practice and the aim is to produce farm animal veterinary surgeons with the knowledge, skills and ability to deal with individual animals, routine fertility visits and herd/flock health problems in an evidence-based way. All courses delivered by experienced practitioners and will provide practical tips on how to apply the knowledge and skills learnt on farm.
Equine Graduate Programme
The equine graduate programme has been designed to support you in your first role as an equine vet. The programme is delivered by both experienced ambulatory and hospital-based vets and will give you a solid grounding in the management of the most common clinical presentations that encourages appropriate investigation and treatment of these conditions. We will use case discussions and practicals to help you learn and refine your diagnostic skills.
Included in the programme is the well-known ‘Equine Essentials Course’, a 3-day event that is almost entirely practical in nature.
Small Animal Graduate Programme
The Small Animal Graduate Development Programme has been designed to build on the knowledge and skills learnt at university and provide recent graduates with the necessary support to allow them to develop as small animal clinicians.
The Small Animal Graduate Programme will help to develop the new members of our vet team into confident and competent members of the profession. It will give you a solid grounding in the management of the most common clinical presentations that encourages appropriate investigation and treatment of these conditions. We will use case discussions and practicals to help you learn and refine your diagnostic skills.
The VetPartners Graduate Programme is really helping me settle into my new job as a vet. I feel I am improving, gaining more confidence and dealing with cases better, thanks to the programme.
The graduate scheme is helping my development because the topics have been well thought out and are ones that we see in day-to-day practice.
